Abstract

This study examined the influence of glocalization of management practices on organizational effectiveness in Ghanaian banks and telecommunications companies. Glocalization, defined as the integration of global management standards with local cultural values, was investigated as a strategic approach to enhancing organizational performance. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 370 managers and employees across five banks and four telecommunications companies operating in Ghana. Glocalization practices were measured using adapted scales assessing global standard adoption and local value integration. Organizational effectiveness was measured using multidimensional scales capturing financial performance, operational efficiency, employee satisfaction, and customer satisfaction. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to examine relationships and moderating effects. Results revealed significant positive correlations between glocalization practices and organizational effectiveness (r = 0.52, p < .001). Hierarchical regression demonstrated that both global standard adoption (β = 0.35, p < .001) and local value integration (β = 0.38, p < .001) significantly predicted organizational effectiveness, collectively accounting for 41% of the variance. The interaction between global standards and local values was significant (β = 0.19, p < .01), indicating that organizations that effectively balance global and local practices achieve superior effectiveness. The findings highlight that glocalization offers a viable strategic framework for multinational and local organizations operating in Ghana's dynamic service sector. Implications for strategic management, human resource practices, and organizational culture in Ghanaian banks and telecoms are discussed.
