Abstract
This study assessed the effect of accessibility to National Social Security Fund (NSSF) services on individual financial sustainability among selected pensioners from the NSSF Iringa Regional Office. The study focused on accessibility to pension information, convenience of accessing NSSF services, availability of service channels and ease of obtaining support from NSSF. A mixed research approach using a cross-sectional research design was adopted. Data were collected from 202 selected pensioners through structured questionnaires and five NSSF staff through semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 through descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and regression analysis, while qualitative data were analysed thematically. The findings showed that accessibility to NSSF services was positively associated with individual financial sustainability among pensioners. Easy access to pension information, convenient service channels and timely support from NSSF enabled pensioners to obtain services, understand their pension benefits and plan their financial needs more effectively. The findings further showed that difficulties in accessing services, limited information and delays in obtaining assistance affected pensioners’ ability to manage their financial needs effectively. The study concludes that accessibility to NSSF services has an important effect on individual financial sustainability among pensioners in Iringa Region. The study recommends that NSSF strengthen accessibility through improved physical and digital service channels, timely provision of pension information and responsive support services to enable pensioners to manage their financial resources more effectively.
